Making Alexa More Local

Alexa is Amazon’s cloud-based voice service. We launched Alexa back in 2016 with a mission to make it part of British popular culture. Over the years we have taught Alexa thousands of new local words and dialects in partnership with lexicographer Susie Dent, the rules of Premier League football with referee Mark Clattenburg, and we even partnered with Buckingham Palace to broadcast the Queen’s Speech through Alexa. More purpose-led activity includes local partnerships with care homes and charities such as the Royal National Institute for the Blind (RNIB), with Alexa helping the most vulnerable keep connected to friends and family.
