Local Foodmakers


Nearly half the food we eat comes from overseas, which is bad for the environment in terms of transportation and bad for the customer due to volatility of global food prices. In an effort to reduce the country’s reliance on imports, we introduced the Morrisons Local Foodmakers programme to find the best British producers and take them to a mass market using the supermarket’s manufacturing and retailing infrastructure. It is a big, positive PR-led idea that has a big, positive impact on all involved.
